FAQ’s

Presenting the Award

The section leader for which the young person is coming from presents the Moving-on Award, normally at a going-up ceremony. Or if the requirements for the Membership Award have been completed, it could be presented at the investiture ceremony for the section they’re going to.

The Moving-on Award on the uniform

A young person wears the award on the left breast, above the Membership Badge and above the Joining In Award. The young person should wear the award throughout their time with the section.

Completing the Membership Award and making the Promise

Young people should make the Promise between 6 and 12 weeks of joining. If they have been a member of a previous section, they will probably be ready much sooner.
The promise should be made in front of other members and the location should be appropriate and memorable.  In Explorer Scouts and Scout Network it should be decided by the young person with help from other Members.
